SuperCare: Providing Outstanding Residential Services for Children with Learning Disabilities

SuperCare is a forward thinking residential provider of children's homes for young people with learning disabilities.

SuperCare is a forward-thinking residential provider of children’s homes for young people with learning disabilities. Our focus on this enables us to hire excellent specialist professionals who have real hands-on relevant experience that is specific to supporting young people within this remit.

We use a combination of Positive Behaviour Support and our own in-house model called The Care & Love Model focused on providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children in need. Every child deserves love, care and attention to thrive and develop, which is why this approach works so well.

Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support is a framework of care that has sat at the heart of the UK Government’s “Positive and Proactive Care” policy since 2014. It involves an understanding of the behaviour of an individual and as such is an incredibly personalised approach to care. It’s person-centred, involves all stakeholders and is carried out for the benefit of the individual, without using punishment.

Care & Love

Our model recognises that children with learning disabilities require support not only in the home but also in other areas of their lives, such as emotional regulation, social skills, and daily living activities. Coaches in our children’s homes adopting this model receive training in various therapeutic techniques to provide comprehensive support to children.

One of the key benefits of our model for children with learning disabilities and linking in with PBS, is the creation of a supportive and inclusive community. Children are encouraged to develop positive relationships with their peers, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing feelings of isolation. This community support helps children with learning disabilities build social skills, improve self-esteem, and develop a sense of empathy and understanding towards others.

A forward thinking approach to care

The Positive Behavior Support (PBS) model works synergistically with our Care & Love care model in SuperCare.

By combining our model with PBS, children with learning disabilities receive consistent, compassionate care while also learning appropriate behavioural and emotional regulation skills..

Both models for children’s homes are highly beneficial for children with learning disabilities. By providing individualised support, creating a nurturing environment, and promoting a sense of belonging, these model empower children to overcome challenges, develop their strengths, and reach their full potential.

When combined, it fosters a comprehensive approach that addresses the educational, emotional, and behavioral needs of children with learning disabilities.
